Hi, it's Kei Kawai at Google. (Touch "Show all comments" to see translations.) Do you know how Google Street View got started? The original idea was brought to us by Larry Page, the founder of Google. He first tested the idea out himself by taking images of a town using a camera strapped to his car, and then it became our job to turn this idea into a real technology. Through trial and error, our current range of Street View equipment was born. Since then, Street View cars have covered more than 8 million kilometres across 3000 cities in 48 countries worldwide. And to this day, Street View continues to look for ways to bring you more images of beautiful and breathtaking places around the world.
