最初デルタガンダムで開発してたけど、その時の技術では変形機構や、変形時のGに耐えられる素材の製造が出来ず、造れなかった。その為、変形機構を排除し、百年使えるようにと「百式」と名付けた。ちなみに百式の開発コードは「δ(デルタ)ガンダム」確かこんな感じの設定だったはず。
