4両編成は当初単独運動を考慮しておらず、空気圧縮機が1台しか搭載されていなかったが、2000年(平成12年)7月以降単独運転される機械が増え、空気圧縮機が故障した場合運行不能となることを防ぐため2003年12月から2004年3月にかけて浦賀方先頭車に廃車発生品のロータリ式空気圧縮機(AR-2形)を搭載した。
