メカキャサリン。元ゲームのスーパーマリオUSAには登場しておらず、本作で新たに追加されたボスキャラクターになります。 当時はROM容量の都合もあって使い回しのボスが多かったのですが、それをそのままにせずきちんと増えた容量でユーザーを楽しませる工夫に、任天堂の「魂」を感じた瞬間でした。
