ファラコは手柄をたて、大佐から少将に昇格した。ファラコがたまに酒を飲むと、もらいに来る図々しい参謀がいて、ファラコはそれに困っていた。時は過ぎ、ファラコの部屋にカメラが仕掛けられているとも知らず、さらに二年が過ぎた。戦況は不利になる一方で、彼は、自決しようと酒に毒薬をもった。すると戦争を起こした張本人であるいつもの参謀が、やって来て、酒を飲んだ………。このあと、残党と連合が終戦協定を結んだのは、言うまでもない。
