    I think you need a Wii U lan adapter for your 3DS to connect online. Not sold yet here I think.

    They connect, the 3DS says it has "old data" that is not the same as the Wii U's. Both are updated.

    i trfered my data but kept playing on wiiu. when i swtched to 3ds it wouldnt let me trfer my game.

    to fix i had to clear my mh3u save data. to do this go to options and press L+R+X for 3-5 seconds
