Okay, now that the WiiU lets you play Wii games on the game pad, why does it require the TV to be on in order to boot directly to the Wii menu???

  • It doesn't,but it requires some guesswork though. They just don't want people thinking they can play Wii games with just a gamepad.

  • Massive oversight IMO, especially if your WiiU pad lives in another room

  • Yeah.Hey,can't you select the options on the tv with the Wiimote's d-pad?It'd be pretty easy then.

  • It does Brandon, it barfs up an error message saying "the WiiU screen will need to be displayed on the tv until the Wii menu opens"

    Yeahs0
  • Huh?I've selected the options blind before.I'd usually pick the wrong one,but still,I've done it.

    Yeahs0
  • Nope, the console knows the tv is off.

    Yeahs0
  • No you can still hold b while the wii u is turned on before the accounts appear on screen. Then choose one and poof ur in wii mode

    Yeahs0
  • Yes, but if you do that with the tv off, it tells you to turn it on in order to continue, despite the new ability to play on the gamepad

    Yeahs0
  • Oh,I know what I did,I had the TV on a different channel when I'd pick it blind.

    Yeahs0
  • I think thats only when ur using the hdmi cable on a hdtv. Works fine with me
