Question

I'm assuming that the level of the gunlance ammo determines the damage (lv 1, lv 2, etc.). Is this true? Also does affinity influence the shots as well as the stabs?

    Yes, the level indicates damage per shell. Additionally, a wide shell does more than a long which does more than normal. As far as I know, affinity does not affect shells.

    Ura Z is a great general gunlance set, but what gunlance you use is dependent on what shelling attacks you use. For simple and charged shells, wide type is best. For wyvern fire, long. For burst

    fire, you would use a normal shell type. I tend not to use regular and charged shells, and like using burst fire with a little wyvernfire when possible. As such, I tend to use normal shell GL's.

    Long shells are the most balanced, so you can really use them with any playstyle, they just have extra power in wyvern fire.

    Lastly, since wide do the most per shell, they do great for regular shells, and get an extra damage boost on charged shells

    Yea, I already knew all of that. I'm just wondering if the zvolta demolisher is worse because it has lv 4 long and white sharpness, while the Alioth's asterism has lv 5 wide, 30% affinity, and purple

    If your target is weak to poison (plesioth, zinogre, uragaan) I'd say Alioth. Otherwise I'd personally go with Zvolta, it has really good slime.
