    Are you selecting "Multi Port" or "Network mode". Multi is a local multiplayer room, and Network mode is online multiplayer.

    Go to Neko (the cat on the barrel) and click travel and go to Network mode.

    Or after you go on network mode, enter a room (ie: Free/Novice) Enter a lobby (max capacity 100) then enter a room that isnt full, and is working on something you want to do (ie: HR up/Lagi Horns/Etc)
