    Third party copyright laws still apply even in a partnership, if Nintendo officially bought Sega, then they could get Sonic in without all that.

    @joseph ur half right, Sega is a corporation but in order for it to keep going it has to sell its items to corporations like Sony/Microsoft/nintendo. so its not as independent as u think
