Mega man needs a new game.

isn't this a 'well you don't say' title^^^ but its become more relevant now then it has been for a while. Why? mighty number 9 was supposed to be the successor to the mega man series, and a game to fill the gap of mega man in our hearts. but, the game looks like it will be underwhelming and not as good as the mega man franchise. so i guess we have to wait for a new game

    mighty number 9 seems not to capture the style of mega man with the dash attack and the large focus on combos and scores, when mega man has never really been about that. the graphics also look pretty bad, not just in power but in style too. from what I've seen, the game has a pretty bland selection of colours in each level and nothing too visually interesting.

    Well it's cancelled because the creator has worked on Mega Man for a VERY long time, and just wanted to move on to other things. So to make up for Mega Man being cancelled, he made Mighty 09, and oh boy THAT was a pretty bad mistake. Lol

    Oh and by the way, there was originally going to be a Mighty 09 3D animated series, but I think they cancelled that, too.

    phew... but ya never know. sonic boom was terrible but the cartoon was... ok. not great but ok. decent for one watch at least.

    I get the feeling both of you overlook a few things here. First of all, Keiji Inafune, the man behind the Mega Man games (not his creator though), left Capcom due to wanting to do his own thing. Capcom kept the rights to Mega Man, but they don't do much with it aside from using it for crossovers. Inafune decided to make something new that is also a hommage to Mega Man and thus, Mighty Nr. 9.

    On the note of Mighty Nr. 9 itself, I also think the game's visuals looks a bit bland and I think the game would've looked better in 2D. But I will still get the game.

    Sorry Jose but megaman is not discontinued, no one ever said megaman will be discontinuing. It's just the main series that will probably be discontinuing. There will probably be a lot of spinoffs and ports.

    +hungry dino. still sucks that theyve cancelled the main series though and making spin offs and ports are just salt on the wound. its like saying 'hey you want a new mega man game? well you can have some spin offs and ports but you'll never get another real one again'. sort of dangleing the carrot. :\

    +mikao. he didn't make it very clear on his 'mega man omage but something new' vision though, and many people were expecting a new mega man game but with a different name when they were backing it. now the demo has been released, we know its not a pure mega man, but thats not what people expected when they backed it and either burnt out on hype or where majorly dissapointed...

    ...whether this is from a lack of transparency when the kick starter started or whether people didn't do their research I don't know (i could probably find out somewhere) but thats why the hype train has derailed in my opinion anyway.

    Personally, I never expected a straight-up clone of Classic Mega Man. We already have more than 10 classic games. I was already expecting more than a few tweaks from the formula, and I'd be surprised if I'd be the only one who's fine with that.

    Also, I think Mega Man could've it MUCH worse, like, not appearing AT ALL in any new games. Compare this to Bomberman, who more or less disappeared once Konami got the license.
