Why are the ST games not also on the 3DS?

a few days ago when i read about the Star Tropics games coming to WiiU i assumed that the 3ds would get them as well. these type of games are so much better played on the go.

    I don't think they allow NES or Gameboy games on 3DS anymore. According to a third-party developer, they asked Nintendo if they could include a Gameboy game of their's on 3DS's VC, and were told they "moved beyond Gameboy games now." Only reason we got the Pokémon ones were for the series' anniversary, and because they were widely demanded for years. Only SNES games are allowed on New3DS now.

    yeah, they're moving away from those older systems to the snes and saying it's new 3ds exclusive will somehow get people to buy a new 3ds. i was under the assumption we'd have a ton of exclusive games by now in order to justify upgrading. but no!

    Yeah, plus it's possible the upcoming NX could be the successor to the 3DS, (we haven't seen it yet) so upgrading to a New3DS might not be necessary. Unless you really need portable SNES games, and Xenogear. Wonder if NX will have VC.

    The NX needs to have VC at launch. The Wii U lacked that.

    i noticed the snes vc games on the new 3ds are the same ones i bought on the wii u. i can't justify upgrading from the 3ds to the new 3ds just to by snes vc games that i've already bought on the wii u.

    Huh. I just bought my 2DS and noticed the VC line up was a bit bare for a 5 year old system. That track record doesn't build confidence in the New 3DS.
