Is there online multiplayer?

If there is, up to how many players? And con u join anibody or just miiverse friends?.I'm planing on getting Minecraft so pleaz tell me

    If you want to play with your friends, they need to either be on your friends list, or in your house. If the latter, you need to be using an HDMI cable instead of the yellow, white, and red plugs. In June, there will be an update with a new gamemode that can be played with anyone though (the gamemode is a special battle mode)
