I don't really understand the "bare-fisted monk" RPG character archetype. I mean, you'd think a monk would be able to use spiritual powers or something, not just punch things really hard and nothing else.

    okay, it's not unnecessary from a balancing standpoint since the monk class would basically be a master of all if it wasn't so overspecialized, but it seems a bit odd otherwise

    I would assume something like ki would make their attacks stronger but it sounds it'd make more sense for healing or ranged attacking
