Seriously? Why am I so terrible at this game?

Hmm. . . there could be a ton of reasons, but most importantly, your mentality isn't the greatest. You've gotten tunnel visioned, you only think you suck that you can't get better. Change this mentality around, adopt a more, "What are they doing right that I can adopt into my own play?" mentality. Second, have you tried to analyze your own play and see what happens and why? Record one of....

... your matches and see what happens. Third, have you actively tried to change bad habits and stuff like that? 99.9% certain that the reason your win record is like so is because people just locate bad habits and punish them really, really hard. Fourth. . . I dunno, just look at the 3 things. :P

listen to firebolt that's good mental stuff (staying positive, analyzing your play on replays, etc...). however, we got to work on the other side of the spectrum: execution or doing what you want to without messing up.

choose your main (you better have one). put on a lvl 3 CPU. time to 10-15 mins. just beat up that CPU endlessly. experiment, practice making your movement fluid, make your combos clean, etc...

Or don't care about stats and focus on enjoying the game. You don't have to be good at something to enjoy it.

Thanks, @Firebolt and @Rasta! I'll practice, and after a while, I'll show you how my "1-On-1" win rate is doing with a screenshot! As a little note, my main is Shulk, and secondaries are Cloud and Ness.

If it is because of people spamming, then I'm afraid we can't help you there. All we can say is try and get around those failures with reflection moves, or Ness and Lucas PSI magnet, Makes em' go bonkers. But, NEVER spam, yourself. That's what they want so they can punish you for it.

It's just a fact that everyone is terrible when they first start. I was, my friends were, EVERYONE. All you have to do is be persistent, keep practicing, maybe watch some competitive smash on YouTube. Just keep going, you'll get there eventually. Good luck.

I can't really help with Shulk or Ness, but as a Cloud user myself, here are some general tips: One, Cloud can wall jump. If you already knew this, good for you, because I've encountered a LOT of Clouds on FG that don't seem to realize this. Two, you can delay your landings with a cross slash. This can throw off your opponents timing as long as you don't overuse it. Finally, ( cont. )

- don't use your limit break until you need it for recovery, unless you're sure you can take your opponent's last stock with it.
