In my first playthrough of Pokémon Yellow the Pokémon I leveled far beyond the rest of my team wasn't Pikachu or one of the Red and Blue starters, it was a Victreebel of all things. I don't think it even had Razor Leaf. Needless to say, I never beat the Elite Four on that playthrough.
