【羽島鉄道激戦区開発記♯194】 羽島鉄道ダイヤ改正紹介第二回目。ついに羽島地区初の寝台急行列車が運行開始です。 運行を開始したのは寝台急行「金峰(きんぷ)」。羽島駅を出たあと、大菩薩駅近くの連絡線で下部鐵道へ入り、その後北上を続け計三社に直通し終点美濃駅までを八時間で結びます。 もともとこの金峰は羽島〜飯富間を結ぶ急行瑞牆の補完的な目的で同じように羽島〜飯富間を結ぶ寝台急行として運行が計画されましたが、夜行に乗るような遠距離客は飯富で乗り換えてさらに北の美濃や飯富の東の杉平へと向かうケースが多いことがわかり、この金峰は特に優等列車の整備が進んでいない美濃方面へ運行することになりました。 飯富駅より北の区間は非電化で、羽島鉄道は電気機関車しか持っていなかったため車両は八街鐵道より購入したHD2100系が使用されます。
