  • @g: That... has nothing to do with ranking up in Splatoon. Also, you're forgetting PC is a thing.

  • @ both: It's a combined message. Remember the 2005-2006 delay of Twilight Princess? (Like ZeldaU) ...and the constant restructuring of ranked mode in splatoon to make it nearly impossible to rank up? (like huge point losses and pitiful gains when you actually do win, with 1/4 of your crew lost to connection termination) ...Moved Finish Lines...

  • On the contrary, when a game gets delayed, that usually means that the game could use some more polish, so unless it's a case of something like, say... Duke Nukem Forever, a delay usually isn't a bad thing. Also on the contrary, I feel that the more focused matchmaking between not only rank, but the weapon choices of the people in the room, has made ranking up significantly easier.

  • Like... I used to struggle getting to S simply because of the chance of being put up against S/+'s... While I was in the A ranks. And to that extent, getting to S+ before S could only play with S was a mess for occasionally being paired with A+'s or against S+'s. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have ever reached S+ in the first place... but now I need to get it back. >x>

  • @Srs: I'm sorry to say this, but you need look at it another way, my good buddy… You'd learn that in business, when you release hardware but not great software; you lose, "taking time to polish" or not. Sega Dreamcast suffered that death, Wii U *IS* suffering that death. And to the consumer, investing in a company's system with delayed and delayed promises; it's just another moved finish line...

  • And i'm not disagreeing with your ranking ideas, they are better than before… but it's the mindset people fall into, that i'm getting at. Life cannot be compartmentalized. If a company moves the finish line in their business model, then the users already remember that issue when playing their games. See where i'm going? We feel this way because it's a trend. (hence the Twilight Princess reference)

  • You've made some points there, but comparing all that to not being able to rank up is a far cry. Also, treating games solely as assets to sell, while it can still make something, is also a shaky practice. It is true, that some odd years ago production costs for console games have gotten to a point where the cost to produce makes the amount needed to sell that much higher, so unless the devs…

  • … happen to have everything together already or, failing that, are good at cutting corners (Soul Calibur V is an actually fair example of that… terrible and limited story mode aside, the actual gameplay, as well as the improved character creator, allowed it to stand on its feet), then expect either something that doesn't quite work as intended, or a delay. Of course, the ability to patch means…
