Is SSB worth the money currently?

As the title suggest, I'm wondering about purchasing Super Smash Bros. Is it still shiny and fun, two years after being released?

  • I still play it often on my side (I started with Brawl then the 3ds version). If you like Smash Bros. you'll have fun. However, keep in mind that there is no "story" mode contrary to Brawl/Melee.

  • You only have a 3DS? Then don't bother.

  • Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. Yes, I only have a 3DS

  • @Ludwig The 3DS version is literally the same though?

  • Please look up what "literally" means. Thanks!

  • Literally means exactly. And don't be that guy who says "CHARACTER OUTLINES RUIN IT". It's still the exact same game. My point still stands.

  • .. So what differs from the Wii to the 3DS that makes it a no-go?

  • There are lots of differences between 3DS and Wii U versions. Heck, Nintendo promoted the Wii U version by making a video called "Wii U - Super Smash Bros. for Wii U 50-Fact Extravaganza". Watch that? The 3DS version basically is stripped of a lot of features the Wii U version has, along with having worse quality online play (in terms of both players and online connection).

  • The only positive the 3DS version has over the Wii U version is Smash Run, which is like a worse City Trial from Kirby Air Ride. The 3DS is really not a good controller for Smash Bros, both in terms of many techniques being impossible on it, and that Smash 3DS has broken many people's 3DSs, including mine!

  • The 3DS version is really good. After having both games for a while, I see myself honestly playing the 3DS version more. I recommend getting it on the go. People who break their circle pads on their 3DS's are just playing way too hard as I've had mine since day one and I've had zero issues.

  • It has less playable modes than Melee, and I got bored of it in a week, not to mention it's the reason why the Ice Climbers were removed. I really tried to give the 3DS version a chance, and did not like it.

  • There is a demo that you can download on the eShop. I do recommend that you try that first before actually buying the game.
