@Josh: For up and down smashes, why not have him do wheelies and donuts respectively? It would make more sense.

For Mark: Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem wouldn't deser their numbers of reps if relevance mattered. Kid Icarus only has 3 games and FE is only popular in Japan so far. Also DK would get more reps and we got Lucas because enough people asked for him.

Fan service is the main factor when deciding the roster. Billions and billions of people wanted the Mario, Zelda and Pokemon characters also Japan gets the first say in who joins Smash, so that explains the 6 FE reps and Lucas.

@Josh: Relevance and popularity are kind of different. When Smash 4 was in development, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Fire Emblem: Awakening were brand new and fairly popular. Donkey Kong hadn't had a new game for a while.

As for Excitebike, I said it once before. I'd like him to get in just to have the course clear fanfare from Excitebike World Rally as his victory music. I run it in my head all the time, it fits so well. ^_^

For Raymond: That was a joke. But anyway, FE Awakening and Uprising were successful, but we got their reps for different reasons: Dark Pit: Fan service. Palutena: Nintendo's choice. Lucina: Fan service. Roy: Melee fan service. Corrin: Japan fan service/FE Fates ad (or celebration). Robin: Nintendo's choice.

So, for everything he just swing the bike? that's a cool move set I guess ._.

Actually, he was gonna be in melee as the 8-bit representative. Of course it wasn't gone for due to it not really having attacks. So then, Ice Climbers did replace them. There were others like balloon fighter and A guy name urban champion or whatever but IC topped them all including our little biker. As for me, it'd be an interesting choice and be nice to see him in.

He would be awesome. There are loads of motorcross tricks that could be used as attacks and whatnot. His dash attack could be the crashing animation which would be hilarious

I'm back. Now as I was saying, I still think fan service is the main factor and not franchise relevance.

Nobody ever said that, it just most likely won't happen. Sakurai said that he couldn't get the Excitebiker into Melee because he couldn't get him to jump logically, so when something as crazy as that happens, there's almost no chance...

Reasons as to why people don't want Excitebike in SSB can range from thinking he lacks move-set potential, simply not even considering the character, the fact he was already turned down previously by Sakurai (was once considered for Melee I believe), or simply not liking the idea. I for one think there is potential and would approve of Excitebike's inclusion if it were to happen.

The Excite series has plenty of merit to warrant a playable inclusion. The Excitebike is fairly iconic, and the series has had many instalments from the NES, Famicom Disk System, N64, Wii and Wii Ware. I believe it was even the first 3D classic NES game released on 3DS. With so many entries, a potential move-set and unique abilities would be easy to come up with.
