Unless this post was trying to portray blacks as inferior to others, which I'm pretty sure it wasn't, this post is not racist. Stereotyping is NOT racist unless it is used to portray one race as inferior to another with said stereotype. People need to learn the difference between the two before making accusations.

The problem is that in this day and age a simple question can sometimes be perceived as racist. For instance, I've noticed that a lot of black people play Playstation. It might just be me though.

I guess they are just fond of this game. And before anymore people say, it's not racist. He's only asking why black people like smash. Unless his intention was otherwise, it's not racist.

Smash is very appealing to everyone both blacks and whites (it was actually one of the latter that introduced me to smash.)

If you guys keep an open mind, there actually is a a lot of history about this topic that deals with the culture of African Americans. Back in the 80s and 90s, teenage gangs were very popular, and to an extent, they still are today. A the vast majority of these gangs consisted of African Americans due to their population usually being concentrated in slums and poorer communities.

So where did these teenage boys hang out? Arcades. A lot of gangs often played in those old school arcades, the ones where you had to put a quarter in to play. This was where the rise of fighting games began, games like Street Fighter and Mortal Combat appealed to them the most, eventually granting their companies enough money to expand to console gaming.

The community of kids who played fighting games in arcades eventually grew up, and as a whole, evolved into veterans of the competitive fighting game community (FGC). Nowadays, the FGC is much bigger than gangs hanging out in arcades, but many of those same kids are still involved in the community. So how does this relate back to Smash? 2004 marked Super Smash Bros Melee entrance in to

Major League Gaming tournaments. Melee was beginning to become very popular as a competitive fighting game, but the FGC didn't really like them. There were a few people that were part of both communities, but the FGC never really liked the idea of eSports. They didn't want to become so big that they would play in giant arenas and be on TV. They just wanted to play their fighting games like back

in the arcade days. The early Smash community had a lot of influence from the FGC. Nowadays, both communities are very diverse in its peoples. They also tend to get along well unless you watch a Twitch chat or /r/Kappa. Many video game communities are similar in stories of how they evolved from arcades or retro games and grew. African Americans are only part of the evolution of these communities.

Many cultures like the evolution of eSports in Korea after 1997 Asian Financial Crisis have led to what we know as competitive gaming today. So to answer your question, its because gaming attracts all people from all walks of life, not just one race. Its not that black people like Smash so much, its that all people like Smash, but these groups of people joined the community in different ways.
