There's been some rumours going around that Zelda WiiU will have voice acting and I've been thinking if they did it a certain way it might be interesting. Please read my comment chain before replying:

  • Rather than having fully voiced cutscenes I think they should still be as they were before. So where does the voice acting come in? As you adventure around maybe Link could make remarks about certain things or even tell the player about the lore of a certain place. He could even give advice when solving puzzles. I think it would be really cool to hear what he thinks about the things he's doing

  • I also don't think he should talk to any people unless a prompt was to appear. People have done anylisis of Link's personality and decided he's an introvert, meaning he doesn't feel comfortable around people. If he was shy about asking people whenever they needed help I think it could be a little funny. And it could open new doors in the gaming world for having introverted protagonists.

  • Another thing is maybe he could talk to Epona while he's riding her. If you've read a book series called the Ranger's Apprentice the characters did the same thing with thier horses and it was really enjoyable whenever they talked to them. I can think of some really cute conversations Link could have with her, especially if she was the only thing Link actually spoke to.

  • So in your case, you're referring to the limited voice acting like in Xenoblade Chronicles X? Because I do certainly like that idea.

    Yeahs1
  • I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles X yet, just a little bit of the beginning. From what I played I did get a glimpse of the voice acting style so something like that is what I had in mind. In the game it seemed a little odd to me that the character didn't actually speak(there might have been a reason but I never got to it) but in Link's case I think it would work perfectly.

  • Hmm... with what your saying i think voice acting in Zelda U sounds like a great idea.

    Yeahs2
  • but link doesent talk thats part of his character and weve come to except hardcore zelda fans would not be okay with this and every time link talks its in a terrible circumstance like the animated series or cdi games i am reading a manga sereis how ever where he does talk and thats rather good but its still probably not a good idea maybe his fairy companion could have voice acting

    Yeahs1
  • I would consider myself a hardcore fan and I hope he never has full voice acting(especially if the first thing that comes out of his mouth is 'well excuuuuuse me princess'). I was saying if there ever was then this might be the best way to go about it.

    Yeahs2
  • lol

  • Well, I would like the limited acting like in XCX for the main character, I would find that very fitting. However, full blown would be too much.

    Yeahs1
  • voice acting might kill the series just sayin don't go to my place and kill me for what i say

    Yeahs0
