If any beginning artists are reading this, don't be afraid to play it your own game! There's no wrong way to draw, so remember to draw your own special way. If you don't have a way of drawing, develop one! Be unique, be yourself, and enjoy what you do!

Good advice. While I'm not exactly a new artist, I spent far too long not drawing. Partially because of art block, partially because of depression, and mostly because I never feel like I can do justice to the image in My mind. Because of this, My skill now isn't as good as it was, so I'd say this is good advice for everyone, not just new artists.

I agree with most everything you've said here... ...except the importance of copying. I mean, tracing a drawing to start is fine, but a novice has to learn how to free-hand a drawing. Tracing alone is not what I'd call a good way to learn. Yes, one's own style is the amalgam of other arts and influences, but imitating a particular sequence of them, and in the same pose, is just art-theft.

I couldn't understand the point of tracing. I had better luck <Studying> drawings: by which I mean I looked closely at how the feet stand in many standing poses, the eyes are shaped when they're looking at someone at the side, clothes flow or crease, and the patterns in which they do, and whatnot.

I didn't copy any one drawing: by studying many subject-images, I was able to understand parts of all of them draw figures with that understanding. Proportions, action-poses, fingers; difficult things like these can't be copied, they should be tested and improved overtime, and free-handing is what I consider one of the better ways to do it.

Sorry, I didn't include the tracing subject hah qvq but, like I said its a sensitive subject. Thank you for your opinions, they're appreciated for beginning artists

*One last thing. There is this incredible joy of creating something no one else has before. (I mean that metaphorically now, because your pessimism ruined it.) Anyone can make a trace-drawing of their favorite characters, and there's no feeling behind it. But when one puts in the time and makes the drawing appear with only their memory and imagination, there's nothing else like it.
