Anyone Remember the Genesis?

I have one and it is fantastic! SEGA knew what they were doing. Graphics: perfect! Soundchip: amazing! Games: a wonderful collection! Advertising: way past cool! The SNES couldn't compare, especially without an oficial CD component (Philips CD-i) and low graphics compared to the 32X. Genesis Does!

  • @Skarz If you want to play hidden palace and don't have the game, the system, the game genie, and don't want to use a emulator, buy the mobile port. It's a solid port. I am saying port a lot...

  • i meant the GLITCHY hidden palace

  • Genesis soundchip was no better than the NES', while the SNES was cd quality. The 32x had nothing good about it. the cd add on was atrocious on genesis. Games were lower quality than SNES. Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 didn't even have a save feture. the genesis was behind the times.

  • advertising only existed because it was the only way the genesis could even attempt to bbeat the SNES.

  • Dreamcast and Saturn were so inferior to Nintendo's and Sony's systems, I can barely remember a single obscure sega game, but i can think of many obscure nintendo games.

  • @Bobby, well, the Genesis came years after the NES, but before the SNES, so really, SEGA reached the 16-bit age before Nintendo did. And the CD add-on was decent enough to make Nintendo turn to Sony for help on making an "SNES-CD," of which became Sony's Playstation when Sony left the project.

  • When Nintendo's Playstarion failed, they turned to SEGA themselves for help, before turning to Philips to create the Nintendo-Philips CD-i, of which Nintendo does not officially recognize as a product they worked on. You can blame the Dreamcast for its "failure," as the fall of the Saturn caused it, lacking a proper launch, advertising, and a Sonic title, after the graphics worker died from stress

  • And you can't say SEGA failed. They were the "cool" gaming company, pushing to do things Nintendo wouldn't, such as releasing uncensored games and truly inventing the first plastic game case. They also used creative add-on technology, like the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge to expand the game further by allowing more than 1 game to be played by just 1 cartridge. SEGA did succeed.

  • Financially, The Snes sold more than the genesis, including add ons. The same was with games for said add ons. The first console isn't always the best, ie, ps2 vs. gcn.

    Yeahs0
  • Sega suceeded back then, but they couldn't make a good console afterwards.

    Yeahs0
  • Dreamcast! It was one of the best consoles to ever be released. It might've failed (due to Saturn), and it didn't do the best financially (PS2 did best financially), but it had one of the greatest game libraries of all time, as well as great internet and fan groups. Sony even sells Dreamcast games for the PS3, 4, and Vita.

  • Sadly, I find the Dreamcast to be an overated waste of money, with arcade ports and boring and lame games ported to other systems. It was so easy to hack, that's why people make bootlegs on it.

    Yeahs0
  • PS2 and GCN were so superior in every aspect.

    Yeahs0
  • Except in games. I've discovered that myself. It brought about amazing games that Sony and Nintendo couldn't get to, AND, Online services were better and fans still use them to this day!
