Lost Woods

Could someone please help me? I'm trying to follow these...infernal Poes through the Lost Wood to get to the Master Sword...but whenever I get to the last round, one of them keeps going in each direction except backwards, and it boots me back to the start if I trying going that way myself. Does this make sense to anyone else?
