Why don't we make legal custom stages in tournaments?

Seems like a no-brainer to me. We have the potential for an almost infinite number of legal stages (and have some real music variation), but we'd rather play on Smashville.

  • same reason miis arent legal yet. it takes alot time to make them. and our stage list is already good with alot of extra stages we could add if needed. also itd be hard to implement overall

  • I don't think legal custom stages should take too long to make. Most legal stages are one big, solid platform with a bunch of smaller platforms.

  • It wouldn't work simply because people wouldn't be able to practice on those "endless stage possibilities" outside of the venue. Technically it is possible to transfer the stages online but it would be a complicated mess for various reasons. It seems like a novel idea but I can guarantee serious tournament players would constantly bring up the points I mentioned among other arguements.

  • Yeah, I figured extensive testing might be a roadblock. I still think it sucks that there are only 6 to 9 legal stages.

  • You're conversing with someone who attended a Brawl tournament before MLG took over Smashboards. People there had their character positioning figured out in advance on Frigate Orpheon whenever the stage flipped. Honestly I miss playing on certain stages (Norfair comes to mind for some reason). I still wish there was a way to select the 3DS stages on the Wii U. It has a few legal stages...

  • I think Miis should be legal, because they're total trash. If someone wants to use an inferior character, let them use it!
