    What Nintendo could do is sell a gamepad as an optional controller, that way people that own a Wii U would have that added advantage of already having a gamepad!

    I heard that it would somehow be compatible with the WiiU and the 3DS. Might have just been someone's prediction of what it would be. I wish I could remember the source. It said it was likely a hybrid with a detachable part you could use 'on the go'.

    Well I was talking about that a little while ago here on Miiverse. Nintendo has said that the NX will not replace the Wii U or 3DS but run along side of them so theoretically they could use the Gamepad & 3DS as a controller like how you can use the 3DS to play Super Smash Brothers on the Wii U! The NX is supposed to be a console/handheld hybrid with motion gesture controls & VR support!

    Other rumors about the NX is that Iwata wanted it to have 3G cell phone support for the handheld portion so you could download games anywhere and Nintendo would take care of the cell phone cost via an added in price to the game you choose to get that way and that the handheld would have touch & stylus control along with "motion gesture controls" - think a Kinect sensor linked to handheld screen!

    Touch controls though are supposed to be virtual sticks, d-pad and buttons looking like Nintendo controls but done ala mobile gaming.. I'm not sure if I like that or not! Games on the NX could be theoretically streamed from the console to the handheld and be powerful enough to emulate any previous Nintendo system. If they offer the ability to still play those games on the go too.. amazing!

    No, the NX is not immediately going to replace the Wii U OR the 3DS! Nintendo has said it will run along side of them! From what I have seen of leaked controller images.. it will not be a standard controller at all! But that is the one that comes with it. I am thinking Nintendo will support controllers from the Gamecube, Wii, 3DS and Wii U.
