伊東本社開発記　さて、新路線の紹介の前に、伊東線で行われたダイヤ改正について紹介をします。伊東線では、これまで伊東駅でしか退避をできない事が問題になっていました。そこで、近江駅を2面3線に改築し、退避をできるようにしました。(西)隣町行きの快速と普通は、2時間に1回2・3番線で退避を行います。この影響で普通列車は近江駅で20分停車しますが、他の駅での停車時間が短くなったので結局、所要時間は短縮されました。また、今回のダイヤ改正では伊東駅での長時間停車が廃止され、快速は約50分、普通は約30分の所要時間短縮になりました。
