    Go to the PokéMart and the cashier will call you over and give you Oak's Parcel, then go back to Pallet Town and give it to Oak. He'll then give you and your rival a PokéDex each and tell you to travel the Kanto region. From there you go back to Varidian City and go into Varidian Forest.
