so, i got the strategy guide for this game today... its pretty much a waste. its literally reference and doesnt tell you how to do anything. all missions are described EXACTLY the same as they are in the game. Searching Primorda for Acorn abacuses is just as hard with the strategy guide as it is with out. Theres no general tips or where you could possibly find anything. for any quest. $35 wasted.

    unless someone else here has it and maybe im just missing something. Ive looked at all the indexes and oddly enough, theres not even one in the front or the back of the book. Theres like 3 seperate ones and the first one doesnt even pop up until like page 45. worst. guide. ever. No "how to" in any section anywhere. literally the first 40 pages are the instruction manual. same one you as on here.

    Actually the guide has a bit more to it then just basic missions. It helped me get past some parts of the story and affinity missions. It even warned me ahead of time about some of the bosses that far exceeded my level and gave me the right tips to counter them. It REALLY helps with locating Tyrants and task collectibles, which I need since I participate in a ton of squad tasks.

    Okay, so can you tell me if theres anywhere in the guide I can look to find specific items in specfic/general areas? cause this acron abacus quest was annoying as hell. I finally looked it up online to find a area where they drop.

    Alright, so im taking a second look. once you get far back in the "data" tab section, I found a map for Collectopedia Locations. It has exactly what I was looking for... itd been nice if there was a Table of contents / index in the front/back of the book to let me know this existed. Even still, this guide is bare bones, most of it is info in game already. still cool to look at though.

    thanks rook, id actually like something to compare this map to, consider the location its marked for acorn abacuses is almost a whole segment east of where I was actually finding them, according to what I found on google->gamefaqs.

    that site has helped me out a bit. However most of the time if I needed to find something for a mission I'd just use youtube.

    only had to use YouTube once and that was to find a tyrant in noctilum. Named "blah blah the subterranean"

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/701151-xenoblade-chronicles-x/72946335 I think this technique works. I'm pretty sure I remember getting acorn abacuses on the south entrance of Ardent bridge where the jaculs are. Getting unique items are an incredible pain.
