new 3ds xl

so im thinking of getting a new 3ds xl because of new pokemon games soon and my 3ds is getting very old. one problem im scared i wont use it? i not used my 3ds in months and im not sure if i should buy a new 3ds even though i want to buy more pokemon games. what do you think i should do? thank you :3

    Don't buy new model if you barely play hand held. It's a waste of money and would only gather dust. I bought the new model because I use it just about every day or so.
