Help!

Why does it seem as if when it's the most critical moment of a match I have the K.O punch, Corrin counters and fails, leaves her self wide open, and I do the K.O punch and instead of hitting her, she gets pushed away from me? Can someone explain plz?

    It can't really be explained, little mac's KO punch goes though counters and punish shield so just try to not get hit.

    Little Mac's KO Punch has a windbox. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I think it's a random occurrence. A good comparison would be Game and Watch's Judge, having a different effect everytime you use it, only instead you have one very likely option, and one rare option that's really really bad.
