    Jamil, I didn't say that my reasoning was because he was from a tv show. I said that my reasoning was because he originated from a tv show. Yes, Mario has a tv show, but he's in smash because he originated from a game, not the tv show, so my contradiction stays valid.

    Not just Mario, but ALL of the roster has had a TV show or more based on them, EXCEPT for Mr. Game and Watch, and possibly Duck Hunt. Perry, however, has had multiple games in his genre, just like the other games. What you're saying is that if the chicken became before the egg, the character shouldn't be a question, but if the egg hatched a chicken and the chicken laid an egg, what is the problem?
