    It's because Ash was alot immature and funny in the early seasons- "Maybe it's a Cowterpie!" "Please Misty, only one of us can hallucinate at a time." That means uh- I'm stupid?"     I'd recommend watching subs, and probably just starting with XY and Z. But the anime has improved a lot since b/w. As for the dub, it's all right but man they pick the most unfitting music and it really hurts the scene more. Veronica Taylor is a missed VA, Sarah isn't bad, but she should make the boyish voice sound more natural, especially given that Ash is hinted at being older.
