    First and foremost, you need to learn how to draw outlines. Outline sketches are the key to drawing anything at all. Sketch out the shapes and eventually it will look pretty good. I'd recommend practicing these a few times a day. Here's an example: (next comment)

    And one final tip: practice lots! It may sound cliche, but it's definitely worth the effort. Whether it's just a few quick doodles a day or a serious drawing a day, you'll definitely start to see an improvement in your art after a while. I wish you luck!
