  • That's how G rank works.

  • Nope. After the main quests in G Rank are complete and Urgent quests your rank will excelerate for more difficult quests such as the DLC ones. It was the same to the previous Wii game of Monster Hunter Tri.

  • No, not weird, it's how MH3U works. The whole time you've been hunting, you have been earning points for every hunt you have done. When you beat the Dire Miralis, MH switches you from the "key quest/urgent" method of advancing your HR to the point method. So the amount of points you earned up to that point is what made your HR go so high. Now you will see how many points you earn for each...

  • ...hunt at the end of every quest. Also, if you look at your status (through the menu) you can see how many more points you need to reach the next HR. Just FYI, gathering quests don't give any points, and multi-monster and higher rank quests give more points than lower rank, single monster quests.
