    aim for the head (the lantern) just keep doing that then you will have it as a quest reward or from body carve .... i recommend using a long sword

    Shock trap works well and it is actually easier to get access to the lantern underwater. Also, the lantern in particular is weak to the thunder element.

    On land, KO'ing gobul or using a pitfall trap will make it easier to hit the lantern.
