All right, this girl'd better be playing Zero like a harp right here, because I am NOT prepared to accept Mega Man X as a villain.

Yep, option #2 is definitely the direction I'm leaning in.

Hey megaman, maybe PAT didn't know and you just spoiled him.

I would never have believed that X would go bad. He's been the hero of too many games, and we all love him too much!

@Pat as an interesting fact, Keiji Inafune wanted X as the villan here saying that all those years of fighting alone caused him to become rough,to the point where he saw that the only solution to save mankind was to exterminate all the reploids, but he and the rest of the team changed her minds at the last minute because they thought fans wouldn't like to see X as a villan, thus creating CopyX

I'm disappointed in Keiji Inafune for even wanting to go in that direction, but in the end, he was right... turning X into a villain would have been a staggering betrayal of the fans, in my judgment. I'll actually feel a lot better playing through Zero, now, knowing that my beloved X hasn't been turned to the dark side.

It's a sad thought, but it creates story. Zero's tale is kinda tragic. Knowing his origins, and the events of the X series. I commend the developers for attempting a deeper story, and even sticking to their main goal for the most part. In the end it may not be X, but for a majority of the time it created that shock and awe. A hook that draws us to the truth! But hey, what do I know. Ahaha.

Hey PAT, you must have been scared at the end of Megaman X4 when X told Zero " Zero I'm serious. What if I become a maverick? You have to take care of me. Promise me, Zero. ". Fortunately for you, in X5, nothing about this happens. Hahaha.

Honestly, these games are from an era where story didn't matter a lot. For the most part, you just popped in the cartridge and started shooting stuff. I remember being three stages into Contra before I had ANY idea that I was fighting an alien invasion. But after so many Mega Man X games, it still would've killed me to see X made into a villain. That's like Zelda going on a quest to kill Link, or

Maybe it didn't matter to you, but story was always there. Even down to the first Super Mario bros. In the early years of X it was very slow and mostly about that gameplay. Mega Man Zero came out after X5, which carried very important information about Zero. It isn't all easy to understand. I don't know how much of the MMZ series you've played, but it has some interesting plot, and a crazy finale.

My stuffs a little jumbled. I have just woken up. Haha. I want to say that I do get how you feel. However I am a writer, and designer, so I am usually obligated to turn away from that initial feeling of "Excuse me!? What!? WHAT!?" It's like playing Crisis Core, and knowing you can't change the end. Feels like being kicked on the stomache.

IMO, you can play megaman and megaman X without knowing the story even though the story is interesting. But Megaman Zero 1through 4, it is 1 story and if you don't follow it, I think you're missing an important part. If anyone don't care and just want to play, it's ok too.

I'm a writer too, and I appreciate good stories in games. What Mass Effect and Xenoblade did, for example, was amazing. But when I play old-school side-scrolling shooters, I tend to long for the old days when I didn't have to sit through tons of dialogue and cinematics before I could get to the action, which was all I was really there for in the first place. But since this is my first time with

Personally, I would have loved the story twist if X really did turn evil, and I saw someone else give a plausible explanation for how it could have happened. In the ending for X5 where Light erases X's memory, X mentions that he plans to start some sort of utopia (not called Neo Arcadia, but I can't remember what it was called). Without his memories and past experiences, he could have become a

Just as long as he was redeemed in the end and brought back to the good side, I could've lived with that!
