    Go to highest level area you have access to (Volcano or Tundra), and just keep catching butterflies every chance you get. They are super rare in Low Rank, a little more common in High Rank, and as common as Godbugs in G-Rank. At G-Rank, you can find them nearly anywhere, even Mooga Woods (aka D.Island).
