USB help????? So I have an external USB for more storage on my Wii U, but every time I reformat it and try to play a game and have the data go to the USB, I get a black error screen. Does anyone know how to fix this? I went back and reformatted it on a computer, but that didn't seem to do anything. My USB is 500GB if that's important, but I looked on Nintendo's Website and it said the max was 2TB

  • No idea. have you tried calling Nintendo tech support? If anyone would be able to help they would. I can't think of any reason you'd be having that problem. Sorry I couldn't help.

  • Thanks, I was able to figure it though. Turns out the cable to connect the HDD to the Wii U needs to have one end for the HDD, but two USB plugs. Apparently it doesn't get enough power from just one USB port.

  • That cable is called a USB Y cable, and I was able to pick one up at Fry's Electronics for like $7.

  • I have mine hooked up with a Y cable too. The other option is to buy a HDD with its own power source. I'm glad you were able to find a solution.
