  you go to an area where you see fish swimming in a group. then you'll see a fishing pole symbol over your head. you click A then your guy will do the rest

  To fish, you'll need bait. I'll cover baits in a minute, but I'll cover fishing first. To fish, walk along a body of water until you see a small group of fish slowly swimming around near the shore. Approach the group, DO NOT JUMP INTO THE WATER. You'll scare the fish away if you do. When you're close enough to fish, a fishing icon will appear over your hunter's head,

  Go to a spot with fish and then press the A button to cast out your unlimited worm bait. When a fish approachs wait untill your bobber gets pulled under the water, when it does, hit A again to catch the fish. Really simple, but you hardly ever actually need to catch fish in this game because Granny Go-To at Port Tanzia sells all the important fish anyway.

  Press Y to cast a Worm into the water, or press A to use a bait you've selected in your inventory. Watch the bobber closely, fish will usually nibble on the bait 1 to 3 times before biting. The bobber will dip low in the water when the fish bites. When the bobber dips, press A to reel the fish in.

  Baits: they range from simple worms, fishing flies, to frogs for fishing large monsters out to custom made baits for certain types of fish. Using the right bait can make a hard quest easy. The quest that requires you to fish five Goldenfish is a good example. Trying to catch Goldenfish with Worms is HARD. A lot of newbies just use worms & learn this the hard way.

  Using a Mega Fishing Fly will help a little bit. BUT, if you take a Mega Fishing Fly & combine it with a Snakebee Larva, you'll make a Goldenfish bait. Using Goldenfish bait will make them come fast, & all you'll catch is Goldenfish! So learning to fish & make your own bait takes time & practice, but once you master it, fishing is one of the easiest activities in MH3U.
