    I know Amiibo aren't usable against randoms, online. I do believe anything is possible with friends, though. Anybody can be a good starter, so start with what you like or are familiar with. As for best techniques, that's still a work in progress. Still need more special moves unlocked and more time to experiment with Amiibo team synergy.

    You can't use them online, they are compatible with other games (hyrule warriors, mario kart 8 and some others i think.) and some good starters are mario, link and kirby.

    Well, the Amiibos only work for Smash battles like regular 4-Player Smash, 8-Player Smash, and I think Special Smash and that's it. Any Amiibo is good to buy since it's just a matter of which character you like best (personally I chose Samus and eventually will get Meta Knight). Plus, Nintendo going to turn unpopular Amiibos (Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Marth) into Amiibo Cards so there's that.
