    So, trinitrotoluene, better known as TNT, is a pale yellow, solid chemical primarily used as an explosive. Because it melts at 178º F and doesn't explode below 464º F, it is melted and poured into metal casings. It is relatively insensitive to shock, and thus usually requires some sort of detonator.
