    Everything that couldn't sell all year gets a price cut, and people believe they're getting a deal for old inventory. Also, black friday is to remember the day when the stock market crashed.

    First, stores gradually raise the price of goods. Next, they wait until Friday(Or Thursday now in days). Then they cut the prices down to their original price and call it a "sale". Then mobs of people trample each other to get everything first.

    Biggest shopping day in America. Retailers are aware that most adults are off on the day after Thanksgiving, so they make deals on every product they sell for the Holiday season. Every year, Black Friday gets retailers a ton of cash.

    MLG holiday shopping spree that apparently kills almost 500 people a year. Never go shopping on Black Friday. I'd rather have my life than die trying to get new clothes for half-off;

    Yeah, lots of it is Christmas shopping. But lots of people also buy things for themselves, to, while it's still cheap(or "cheap" in cases similar to the one I described above).
