If the Link in Zelda U is a newest incarnation of link yet, that could mean that Zelda U is not going to take place as a sequel or a preuql to any zelda game (unless it is like A Link Between World's case because it is a "direct sequel" to a link to the past) I'm not saying that Zelda U could take place in the downfall timeline.

    I'm not sure if that Link is in between the previous games. I hope he's not in the Downfall Timeline; the game should be in the Child or Adult Timeline.

    It should be the child timeline as it hasn't been touched since TP in 06. But given the scale that Nintendo suggested in the e3 clip, my guess is that it could take place in the child line or maybe before SS, and give us more depth to why Hylia raised the land into the sky. The manga in HH did give some explanation, but it would seem like a waste to not have a game about that event.

    It shouldn't take place in the downfall timeline. It should take place in the child timeline, the only timeline where the triforce hasn't been restored, and the Master Sword is still attainable (in the downfall timeline the master sword sleeps... FOREVER and in the adult timeline it's stuck in Ganon at the bottom of the ocean)
