    there is still hope, you do have the option to hunt with others locally. the downside to that is finding others near by that have it on handheld.

    Yes like Starlegion said the 3ds version of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will have online capabilities like it's WiiU counterpart. You will also be able to search for friends and see if the are online as well
