Which Trainer Cards do you think are the best (excluding staples like Bill, Prof. Oak, etc)? Which Pokemon Type do you like the most and which do you like the least?

  • Obviously the worst Trainer Card is Imakuni? since it has no real use as far as I'm aware. I personally feel Pokemon Trader is quite possibly the single best Trainer Card in the game (aside from draw power cards like Bill) since it essentially gives you any Pokemon you want with little cost. I'd use 3-4 in almost any deck if they weren't so darn rare.

  • As for the types, I REALLY don't like Lightning types since they all tend to have stupidly high Energy costs for their attacks, or some sort of unruly effects (damaging itself/your own bench, etc). The biggest problem I have with it is that there really aren't a lot of standalone Basics. Electabuzz is very good, and the Zapdos cards can be devastating if lucky, but that's it. They aren't my style.

  • As for my favorite type, it'd have to be Grass. Beedrill & Butterfree are amazing if prepped, especially Beedrill. No retreat cost, Fighting resistance, only needs 3 Grass to dish out 40 dmg every turn with a chance of Poison. Scyther and Pinsir are amazing Basics for different reasons. Venomoth can also be a nuisance, as well as Arbok. There's just so much going for Grass imo.

  • (Don't forget Venusaur, haha.) I like the Energy Retrieval cards. They help continue fueling the stronger bench pokemon. My least favorite is also Electric, mostly due to the lack of evolutionary lines. My favorite would be Psychic since they can control flow so well.

  • I don't actually use Professor Oak - not a fan of discarding junk. I don't really have a favorite, either. My least used type is Grass, because prepping doesn't always go well for me and the ones that -can- attack swiftly have coin-flip dependency. My favorite type is Lightning because... um... preference, I suppose? I don't really have a good reason - I just like them.

  • @Morgan: You don't always use Oak as soon as you get it. You make sure you've used everything in your hand that's useful before discarding. The reason why Oak is so amazing is that you'll be plusing so much with little to no downside. Trust me, drawing 7 is almost always worth ditching your hand.

  • To be fair, Lightning decks have less of a use for Oak... but it's still good in the right situation. Also, I change my favorite to normals. They're just so versatile. Oh, and Dragonite turns out to be good.

  • Dragonite has good abilities, but I don't like the coin flip dependency to deal damage. Still, I agree that he's definitely worth using.

  • the best trainer card Pokemon breeder so I can get 2nd stages onto the field fast. My favorite type Fire type easily the most offensive cards in the game they need a lot of energy though. And finally my least favorite type. psychic alot of their attacks seem gimmicky and rely too heavily on coin flips.

  • My favorite card is Level 45 Raichu. My favorite type is electric and least favorite is fire.

  • Pokemon Breeder is awesome if you run Stage 2 cards. Most of my decks use Basics and Stage 1's though. I also like Fire a lot too, but I hate how a lot of them require Energy detachment to do damage. Raichu is very cool, but it has expensive Energy requirements.

  • 30 damage to your opponent's active pokemon with 10 damage to three of their benched pokemon? Totally worth it.
