just started playing this, so far so good... if you played rpg games back in the early 90's you'll feel right at home with this. the complaints i've read are akin to dkc:tf being too hard, but if you played games back when skill was a part of the experience, it's a wonderful throwback to the golden 16-bit era. (end mini rant)

    I'm halfway through and the game isn't hard to me. My main complaint is that the battles are really slow compared to a real 90's RPG. A random battle can take a few minutes and sometimes even longer. It's usually the same enemies over and over again, so I wind up using the same strategies a lot. If the battle animations were fast like in the 16-bit Final Fantasy games, this wouldn't be a problem.

    This screenshot is from a dungeon halfway in the game but I'm fighting the enemies from the first dungeon. They repeat the enemies too often and it gets old after a while. Pier Solar is an alright game but nowhere near as good as the games it imitates.

    Most rpgs I've ever played lead me using the same strategy over and over, unless it's a boss fight. But yes, the battles are somewhat on the long side for the common enemies. And I also agree the enemy variety isn't great.

    I will stress that I LOVE OLD SCHOOL TURN BASED RPG's, but this game bored me to death. I couldn't finish it & I find that sad. I was really looking forward to it for a long time :(
