Sometimes when I throw a poke ball, in shakes only once, and it automatically catches the Pokemon. What does that mean?

    That, mah boi, was a critical capture. It's a trainer-exclusive critical "hit" that boosts the chances of catching a Pokemon by... a lot. Since it shakes only once before the verdict instead of the suspenseful 3 shakes & a click or break-out.

    Critical capture is basically a rare insta-catch.

    It's not always a gauranteed insta-catch however. Legendaries can still pop out.
