I think it is. High Rank armor can be overforged and used in G-Rank. The G armors aee good on their own and in mixed sets.

I don't think that's not a term but he probably means reinforcing an armor with materials from the next rank. It allows you to use previous armors with higher defense at a "cheaper" price. Though skills and elemental resistances don't change it could be preferable to do so in some cases.
